Lyakhov and Straka Lead Rally Against Mamdani

This Sunday, I’ll be taking the stage in New York City to speak at the largest rally ever held against mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani—a proud socialist whose radical policies are putting our city’s future at risk. I’m honored to be a featured speaker at this event, hosted by the WalkAway Campaign, a national movement of former Democrats and independents who are done being silenced by the far-left—and are ready to take a stand.

I’m attending this rally as a New Yorker, a student, and the child of a family who lived through the very same ideology Mamdani is now trying to push on us. Mamdani’s radical agenda is failing New York—especially its children.

Zohran Mamdani has repeatedly opposed the very policies that give low-income kids a fighting chance. He’s fought against school voucher programs, tried to block the expansion of charter schools, and has openly attacked NYC’s top-performing public high schools, like Stuyvesant and Bronx Science, because they don’t meet his racial quotas.

Mamdani wants to destroy successful ones in the name of “equity.” He’s fighting to kill the very systems that lift families out of generational poverty.

Meanwhile, some public schools in his district have a 0% pass rate on standardized tests. And yet Mamdani’s focus isn’t on helping those kids. Instead, he is focused on pushing divisive racial politics.

Just last year, Mamdani pushed through a $20 million “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” hiring campaign for NYC teachers. That’s taxpayer money that could have gone toward student tutoring, updated textbooks, after-school programs, or even basic classroom supplies. Instead, it went to ideological hiring mandates.

42% of NYC public school teachers are Black—in a city where Black residents make up just 22% of the population. But to Mamdani, it’s still not enough. His priorities aren’t driven by what’s best for students—they’re driven by racial quotas and political ideology.

I know what that kind of control looks like. My family lived in the Soviet Union. They know what it’s like to be silenced. They know what happens when bureaucrats decide who gets what and who deserves opportunity. They remember standing in breadlines. They remember what it’s like when people are punished for success and rewarded for obedience.

What Zohran Mamdani is offering New York is anything but “progress”. He wants to bring Soviet-style socialism to a city that was built on capitalism, freedom, and innovation. He wants to redistribute failure in the name of fairness. But the truth is, you can’t lift people up by dragging others down.

His economic vision is equally destructive. Mamdani supports legislation that makes it harder for businesses to survive, for workers to thrive, and for innovation to happen. He’s part of a growing movement that treats wealth as a crime, and success as injustice.

This is why I’m speaking out. Because someone has to say the truth out loud: Zohran Mamdani’s agenda is dangerous.

The WalkAway Campaign represents a new kind of political courage—the courage to question, to reject the radical left, and to walk away. I’m proud to be part of it.

If you care about education, opportunity, and the future of this city—join me. Let’s show the world that New Yorkers are not going to sit back while radicals hijack our institutions. Let’s make it clear that we’re not afraid to speak out.
